Fun design, cheap manufacturing, August 19, 2011 This review is from: Lucas Unique Wood Bookcase/Display Stand - Oak I bought this bookcase for it's fun design and it does look very nice in my living room. The material is the usual for a cheaper bookcase; fiberboard with a plastic coating. This is also the case for most IKEA type furniture, however IKEA's furniture is manufactured in a much smarter way - meaning that screws etc are hidden (or less visible) once the piece is assembled. This bookcase is a bit complicated in it's assembly,so there are screws put in from several angles. The manufacturer could easily have given the book case directionality and thereby hidden about half of the screws, but instead it comes with silly little plastic stickers in the same color as the veneer to cover the screws. If you have a lot of light on your book case, these stickers are very obvious and it looks cheap. I don't have any direct light on my book case and when filled with books the stickers are not as noticeable, so I don't mind.
